Mystery and poetry
Who is your favorite artist of all time?
One of my favorite painters is Joannes Vermeer. I discovered not long ago that my ancestors were Flemish, it reinforced my attraction for this artist.
I particularly like the mystery and poetry of his works. And also the small size of the canvases. A modest common point with my work.
How did you become a professional artist?
I graduated from the Beaux-Arts de Paris, I always drew and painted. Naturally friends and then collectors became interested in my creative universe-
What are the influences and inspirations in your work?
My inspiration is essentially around the image of the woman. I seek an absolute truth through these portraits. It is about dreams, secrets and wounds with a desire to escape reality.
How is your work different from everything else out there?
My work is original already by the very small formats I choose. Then there is a mixture of onirism and even daring time that is interesting.
When is a piece finished for you?
A painting is over when the story I tell myself in my mind is over. Each collection are like chapters of a book
What’s coming up for you?
The best I hope !
What advice would you give to an artist just starting out
today?
The best advice I can give and always be in sincerity and not seek to make effects with the technique used
Who are some of your favorite underappreciated artists that you don’t think get enough attention?
I think of Marie Laurencin or Paula Modersohn-becker.
