L'Oeil du Prince
Art Gallery Biarritz
Created in 2010 by Yann Deshoulières, La Galerie L’Oeil du Prince offers a demanding selection from around thirty confirmed contemporary artists, mainly figurative, focusing on emotion, sincerity and aesthetics.
“L’Œil du Prince” in the theater, refers to the seat that offers the best view and which was traditionally reserved for the prince or the most distinguished spectator. From this privileged position, one can take in the entire scene at a glance without any distortion of the stage perspective.
By extension, the expression is used to describe the ideal vantage point from which to view a painting, where perspective remains undistorted.
This is the philosophy that guides Yann Deshoulières in the presentation of his meticulously chosen works. With figuration as its guiding thread, L’Œil du Prince Gallery exhibits paintings, sculptures, photographs, and engravings for collectors who, above all, speak from the heart with sincerity—free from the distorting prism of fashion or clichés.
Originally established in Paris near Parc Monceau and later complemented by a second location on Rue de l’Odéon, L’Œil du Prince relocated in April 2018 to Biarritz to be closer to its family roots.
More than thirty artists—painters, sculptors, photographers, and engravers—are exhibited in this new space. Coming from diverse backgrounds, they all share a commitment to work of the highest quality, recognized both nationally and internationally for its solid technique and distinctive sensitivity.
